What am I looking at? (the math hiding in sound)
A sound is a stack of pure tones. The 🔵 whistle is almost one clean line. The 🎺 trumpet and 🗣️ voice are many lines stacked up.
Pitch → height. High sounds paint near the top, low sounds near the bottom.
Harmonics = skip-counting. The extra lines land at 2×, 3×, 4×… the bottom line — just like counting 2, 4, 6, 8. That is why a trumpet sounds richer than a whistle.
Octaves are evenly spaced. Going up one octave doubles the pitch, but here each octave is the same height — that is how our ears feel music too.
