The math inside the beat
Beats are equal fractions of one bar. 16 slices split the pizza into sixteenths; every 4th slice is a quarter (1/4), every 8th is a half (1/2).
Patterns are shapes. A hit every 2 slices draws a line, every 4 a square, every 3 a triangle. The shape's corners are the divisors of the number of slices.
Rotational symmetry. Spin an even pattern a few slices and it looks the same — that's the same idea as turning a square 90°.
Wrapping the circle = modular math. Slice number 18 on a 16-slice pizza is really slice 18 − 16 = 2. That's "18 mod 16".
Euclidean rhythms spread k hits as evenly as possible over N slices — the same trick that shares things out fairly.
